I Need My Passport Now!
It happens to all of us. We have a last minute trip, and we check our passport to prepare to buy tickets to our destination only to find out someone’s passport or the entire family’s passport is about to expire. Or maybe you need a new passport fast. By using these tips and tricks you can try to get your passport rushed at no extra cost to you.

Adults
If you have weeks until your destination you can try a couple of things. You want to schedule an in person appointment at an acceptance facility, and pay all of the expediting fees. Wait about a week and then give the Urgent Travel Service a call at 1-877-487-2778, wait on the long hold, and let them know your situation and to place an urgent matter on your passport.

Children
Minors are a different story, renewals must be done in person through an acceptance facility. Find your local acceptance facility and pay all of the expediting fees. Do the same as an adult, wait about a week and then give the Urgent Travel Service a call at 1-877-487-2778, wait on the long hold, and let them know your situation and to place an urgent matter on your passport.

Time to use your power
Your Congress Person can help you navigate the Department of Transportion to help schedule an in person appointment. These appointments are sometimes not possible to get even if you call the Urgent Travel Service constantly through the day for weeks on end. To find your local Representative and input your zipcode.
Click on their name, then click Contact. You then have a specific issue with a federal agency. Open New Casework Here if that option shows up. Most of the Representatives pages will then have a Complete Privacy Release Form and Open a Case button. Some have their own custom form to fill out.

Generic Release Form and Open a Case
Fill in your address and City and the Digital Privacy Release Form will either be the correct Representative or will take you to the correct one based on your address.

Custom Case Form
Find the Federal Agency Help and click that. Under Federal Agency, type in Department of State. After filling this form out it might say to print and mail. Print this form and then head to your local District Office during their business hours. Call beforehand and see if you can handle this through the phone first.

Keep Your Eye on the Prize
The important step of filling out the final form is to make sure to select Agency Involved is Department of State. Also make sure to select the “Are you contacting us regarding a Passport issue?” button and click Yes. Now explain your situation, and include anything important that will help them get your passport handled as fast as possible. Be courteous and professional, as your Representative is here to help you out and can turn around your situation. Once done click submit. Wait a day for response as to not overwhelm them, but you should hear back within a few hours if its a business day. If no response, give your local District Office a call to explain your problem and ask for help.
